Promoting Community Health and Well-being in Line with National and Global Health Priorities
PACo remains firmly committed to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable communities in Afghanistan, in alignment with the country’s national health strategy and global public health goals, including the Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Our health-related interventions are designed to address critical public health challenges in remote and underserved areas, with a particular focus on women, children, and marginalized populations. Key areas of intervention include:
- Health, Nutrition and Hygiene Awareness: Delivering community-based awareness campaigns on essential health practices, mother and child nutrition, hygiene promotion, and disease prevention to empower individuals with the knowledge necessary for healthy living.
- Dignity and Menstrual Hygiene Support: Distributing dignity kits, particularly for women and adolescent girls, to support menstrual health management, promote self-esteem, and uphold dignity in crisis and post-crisis settings.
- Midwifery Education and Capacity Building: Strengthening the healthcare workforce by providing training and education for midwives, improving maternal and newborn care, and addressing the critical shortage of skilled birth attendants in rural areas.
- Health Infrastructure Development: Constructing and rehabilitating primary health care facilities, including district-level health clinics, to enhance access to essential medical services and reduce barriers to quality care.
Through these integrated interventions, PACo contributes to the national objective of strengthening primary health care systems and builds resilience within communities to better respond to current and future health challenges. Our approach prioritizes equity, sustainability, and community engagement, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward healthier lives
